Asian, spicy hot pot casserole

An easy hot pot stew bursting with Asian spiciness for all the senses is quickly created from pre-marinated Asian tofu and an Asian spice mix. Like a rich, fresh breath from an oriental home kitchen.




2 pkg Jalotofu Asia 300g

2+2 tbsp oil for frying, e.g. sesame

2 tbsp Urtekram Asian Spice Mix

2 pcs onions

1 pkg shiitake or mushrooms

2 pcs peppers

1 carrot

3 cloves of garlic, grated

1 tbsp ginger, grated

1 lime

8 dl water

1 pk coconut cream (400 ml)

1 vegetarian bouillon cube

1 tsp sugar (e.g. cane)

1 tbsp soy sauce (low salt)

  • Chop the onions and peppers into dice of appropriate size. Cut the carrot into thin slices. Slice the mushrooms. Grate the garlic and ginger. In a large casserole, heat 2 tablespoons of oil, add the vegetables and the grated ginger and garlic. Sauté for a few minutes. Add the Asian Spice Mix and sauté for a minute, stirring well.
  • Add water, vegetarian bouillon cube, sugar, soy sauce, half a lime and coconut cream. Bring to a boil and leave to simmer over medium heat until the pot is slightly bubbling but not boiling. Check the taste. Here is the hot pot stew broth.
  • Open the packages of Jalotofu Asia and drain off the excess marinade from the package. Dice the tofu and place in the pan. Fry in a dry hot pan for about 3 minutes, turning occasionally.
  • Reduce the heat by half and add 2 tablespoons of oil. Fry for 4-5 minutes, turning occasionally, until the cubes have a nice crispy surface. Remove from the heat and add the marinade left in the packet. It will boil quickly in a hot pan and finishes the seasoning of the tofu.
  • Prepare the noodles according to the instructions on the packet and the number of people. Finally, rinse with cold water and place in a large bowl.
  • Add the tofu to the casserole and bring to a boil. Take the hot tofu hot pot and the noodles separately to the table. Ladle the noodles into the bowls and ladle the hot pot over them. Serve with lime cubes, coriander and chopped spring onion.
  • Tip: you can add mini peppers, sugar snap peas or other favourite vegetables to the hot pot at the serving stage.
