100 ml molasses
40/45 g caster sugar
125 g butter
290/295 g plain flour
1 tbsp liquorice powder
1 tsp baking soda
Pinch of salt
1 egg
In a saucepan, bring the molasses and the sugar to a boil. Add the butter, stirring it in as it melts, then let cool. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, liquorice powder, baking soda and salt. Mix the egg in the molasses mixture, then stir in the dry ingredients.
Let the dough rest in the refrigerator overnight. The next day, roll the dough out thin, then cut out shapes and bake in a 175 °C oven for about 7 minutes.
